Don’t get hung up on a destination..

We all have a vision when we are children, of who or what we want to be… I always thought i would be a singer, a musician, i was half right as that was a huge part of my life up until my late 20s, but as i mentioned in other posts, it kind of felt like a plan laid out for me, not by me, perhaps by natural talent and ability. I guess it made sense to take the “easy” route of doing what comes natural to me. As we all know, if you are following my story , is , that choice in career or persona, didn’t quite work out as planned.

I share with you my vision board, why? Mainly because i want to talk about how we are forever changing. We are forever changing our hair, our bodies, our food, our minds and so why not our lives, our careers, our values & our goals ? I think this old school mentality of we have to be so focused on one goal and work one job our whole lives, is kind of, gone with the wind… I literally cant decide what i want to eat for breakfast every day, what to wear, who i want to be in a week, a month, let alone a year, why? Because i am forever changing. I am always reading new things, meeting new people, learning new ideas, watching new shows, taking new risks, learning new boundaries, breaking down boundaries, the list goes on… How can i be the same person i was yesterday let alone plan to be a specific version of myself next week, or in a year, so much can change in that time, i will change. In an age of information and ideas, its hard to know exactly what we want, or who we want to be, so why not go with the flow? Yes, you can set tasks, but don’t feel the need to have definitive goals that box you in, they can be targets instead, and moving ones at that, they can be loose and adaptable, vague and with room for growth, that’s all i am saying, have goals, have ideas for your future, but don’t let them hold you hostage, its only natural, for your needs and desires to change.

My vision for my future is always evolving, but of course i still set myself goals, like wealth, health, more time, less booze, more fitness and expanding my social media growth, the difference is, i won’t breakdown if it all doesn’t happen at once. They are more of a generic vision to help aid me in a direction i would love to be heading, more personal progress points, room for movement in a forward motion, visual aids to help me along the way, remain focused, but i am not hung up on the destination! This realisation is LIBERATING! Not forcing so much expectation on a destination, you don’t actually need to get anywhere BUT!!!! Focus on the journey, because as we all learn as we go through this life, its all about the journey, i mean , the destination is death, sounds scary, but it’s not scary, its the truth, that’s the only actual destination, the only FINAL moment in our lives, for there truly is no other end. There is no i am this, so now i stop trying, there is no, i reached this peak and now i just stop living, the destination is not real, the journey is real.

If i set myself a goal to reach the peak of Kilimanjaro, and now finally achieve it, does life end? Nooooooo, my target then moves, to EVEREST! haha its never ending adapting, changing, maybe i don’t even like mountains anymore, right? I mean i would certainly not be the same person i was before climbing such a peak. Live for the journey, live for the targets but let them change, live to evolve and grow, live to take on new challenges, the destination is not a real place, it detaches us from the now, it takes away any satisfaction in the wins along the way and makes us constantly feel the need to achieve more to reach a certain point, instead of taking it in and feeling the progress and acknowledging we are always growing. So don’t get hung up on feeling like shit, when you don’t quite make it.

Continue to evolve, grow and adapt, the less you stay the same, the more you are living.
